Enrol in Spinning - Advanced: Silk & Exotic Fibres

Course Code: ARTS2045

Please note: This course is not suitable for beginners. Successful completion of Spinning - Intermediate or its equivalent is suggested.
Explore the characteristics, properties, versatility, and luxury of silks and a wide variety of exotic fibres. Learn to reel cocoons, make and spin mawatas, as well as spin wild and cultivated silk in its many pure forms. Investigate and spin a variety of exotic fibres such as alpaca, camel, angora, yak and cashmere. All of these fibres blend beautifully and you will learn how to design a wide-range of blended yarns for specific end-uses. A half day will be devoted to creative weak-acid dyeing and the resulting dyed fibres will be used to spin creative colour-blended yarns.

Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus bookstore in-person or online: Peterborough Bookstore or Lindsay Bookstore.
