Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Quilting Open Studio

Course Code: ARTS2331

Please note: This course is not suitable for beginners.
Bring any quilt-related project to develop; be it a new design or an unfinished piece that was never quite resolved to your satisfaction. Work on your unique independent projects; problem-solving, testing new design concepts, and developing a stronger sense of your style and aesthetic-all within a warm and supportive open studio environment. Presentations and discussions will review basic design principles, capture ideas for design development through personal experience, encourage the development of a personal profile through journalling and creative process, and reference inspirational contemporary and historic textile/quilt art. All of this will be interwoven with one-on-one consultations and positive guidance regarding the direction and concerns of your work. Morning roundtable discussions will bring together the ideas, questions, interests, and unique contributions of the class, opening up fascinating new paths and directions of mutual interest. Be prepared for an immersion in productive "serious play" and critical thinking that will provide a deeper understanding of your present aesthetic and chart a meaningful path for future endeavours.
