Not all pieces will be fired during this course.
Explore the ancient technique of smoke firing in a contemporary way. Discover the painterly effects of burnishing, fire and naturally found materials and smoke. Instruction will encourage the development of personal artistic language and the creation of meaningful work. The dramatic and unpredictable results of sawdust firing will initially be explored with tiles and maquettes to demonstrate possibilities for the sculptural pieces. Several pieces will be completed. All skill levels are welcome.
