Parka Making

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Parka Making

Course Code: ARTS2603

This course is not suitable for beginners. Some sewing experience is required.
Create a custom 100% wool coat out of a vintage wool blanket, or new wool melton or wool duffle fabric. This hooded, Arctic-style unisex coat, with custom designed appliques, embroidery embellishments, and fur trimmed (real or faux) hood will last for many years. While some sewing experience is required, sewing this coat is easier than you might think. The wool is forgiving and steam-presses well, and the pattern (provided) has straight simple lines. Time permitting, a pair of mittens or slippers may also be made.
