This course is not suitable for beginners. Basic knowledge of drawing and painting in acrylic is required. No oils please.
All modes of expression - representational, realism, Impressionistic or abstract - are welcome. Improve visual communication skills through the development of working drawings that address major constructs of composition and progress to efficient painting. These exercises will lead to creating larger work that may combine both drawing and painting. Explore dynamic composition through editing, cropping, colour, acrylic mediums, drawing, narrative, contrast, and form. Reverencing masterworks from art history will expand knowledge and the ability to conceptualize ideas into results. You may choose to work in series, with various supports including panel, canvas, and paper. Demonstrations and instruction will include structure, efficient use of materials, concept and content, colour theory, and critiques in a positive and supportive atmosphere.
