Making Comic Art & Selling Your Work

Course Code: ARTS2622

Using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Clip Studio Paint, and more, you will learn fundamental and secret approaches for creating comic book art that is lively and compelling. Each day's instruction will begin with timed figure drawing to cover various aspects of illustration, such as unlocking the full potential of brushes, understanding light and darkness, line art and stroke weight, mastering inking, crosshatching, halftone, and more. As well, colour theory, gradients and comic book cues will be covered. You will learn through interactive lectures, demonstrations, as well as individual attention and helpful feedback. The last portion of the course will focus on selling your work successfully online. Upon completion, you will be equipped with methods for creating artwork in a comic book style and have access to a wealth of fresh artist references, tools, techniques, and websites so that you can continue to be inspired. Students are required to bring their own laptops and styluses, or tablets, as well as software of their choice, to learn.
