Landscape Painting - Loosen Your Style

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Landscape Painting - Loosen Your Style

Course Code: ARTS2333

Creative explorations will involve big brushes, broad strokes, exciting colours, and loosening up your style. Examine the process of interpreting the reference photo, creating a value sketch, simplifying the arrangement of objects, and choosing an exciting colour palette. Daily demonstrations will reveal techniques for a more impressionistic look. These techniques include loose brushwork, massing to eliminate detail, seeing shapes, working around the painting, and overall harmony. A different subject matter will be explored each day as you progress to a looser and looser painting style. There will be generous individual attention and encouragement for personal creativity.

Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus bookstore in-person or online: Peterborough Bookstore or Lindsay Bookstore.
