Building on basic acrylic painting skills, this course is designed for the new or intermediate painter who would like to develop landscape painting skills. Course topics include basic drawing of landscape forms, colour mixing, tonal values, and under-painting. Students will be guided through surface techniques including brushwork, texture creation, compositional decision making, and colour choices. Studio work will be supported by presentations that explore historical and contemporary examples of landscape painting with accompanying class discussions about content, technique and style. Generating landscapes using gestural materials-based approaches will also be explored.
