Instruction is not suitable for beginners. Japanese Brush Painting level I and some watercolour painting experience is required. Expand your creative horizons and discover numerous fascinating and expressive watercolour methods that will harmonize with the art of Japanese Brush Painting. Instruction will include composition, problem solving, design ideas, Western watercolour, and further sumi-e brush techniques. Explore interesting subjects - blending traditional with non-traditional images, watercolour textures, spontaneous wet-in-wet techniques, colour mixing, colour values to achieve depth, and background washes. Manipulate beautiful and unique backgrounds. Engage in stimulating exercises and practice techniques that can be expressed in an abstract, non-objective, or a more representational approach, with an overlying impressionistic style. Explore transparent florals, landscape elements with textured rocks and trees, lake scenes, and quiet streams. Individual attention will assist and encourage you to find your personal creative voice.
