Course Code: ARTS0322

To improvise: to act spontaneously, to think on one's feet, to exercise creative thinking and action. An ability of great value whether employed on the stage, at home, in the classroom or in the boardroom. This course will introduce you to the fundamental principles of performing improvisation. Utilizing games and theatre exercises, you will be introduced to the basic rules that improvisers follow when performing without a script. Learn how to play with others and become more confident and outgoing. No improv or theatre experience is necessary to enjoy this course, but you will be required to perform with, and for, your classmates. More than just fun, improvisation introduces participants to the concepts of focus, spontaneity, teamwork, listening, building on ideas, risk taking and creativity. It is an inspiring and active way to get in touch with personal creativity, enhance personal communication skills and be creative within a group.
