Enrol in Fibres, Feelings & the Creative Path
Course Code: ARTS2458
A basic understanding of simple knitting is required without the need to read patterns, as we will be creating a knitted piece using a 'free flow' technique.
Every woman and woman-identified has a life story that can be defined as a complex tapestry woven from the textures of experience and the colours of change. Sharing time with other women and woman-identified individuals in a safe and supportive space, participants will gather ideas and techniques through writings, poetry and stories as part of the teaching process. As a knitter, stretch your imagination and experience a unique artistic process as you create a beautiful wearable art shawl - a "wisdom wrap". Without the confines of a pattern, you may use different sized needles, strips of favourite fabrics, natural and synthetic yarns, feathers, fur, shells, stones, jewellery, and other meaningful materials in an exploration of the creative process through the use of colour, texture and story. Discover or rediscover your innate creativity with ongoing freedom to 'be with' varying fibres, textures, colours and stitches. Trust your imagination and be inspired by the natural surroundings. Experience the use of story, poetry and music, and the reality of endless possibilities. Instruction is suitable for those who can knit, purl and cast on stitches.
