Fabrics - Colour, Patterns & Painterly Effects

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Fabrics - Colour, Patterns & Painterly Effects

Course Code: ARTS1730

Create fabulous fabric while exploring colour, pattern and texture, using dye and chalk paints. Learn techniques of hand painting, stencilling, fluid wash, leaf/botanical prints, marking and stamping - all ideal surface embellishment for shawls, scarves, sarongs, tablecloths, banners/signage, wall pieces or works on canvas. Experiment with wonderful water-based, environmentally friendly "Colour Vie" dyes, acrylics and versatile chalk paints, for dyeing, printing and painting on fabrics. Colour Vie dyes and chalk paints are ideal for strong, brilliant colour, or diluted for soft and subtle transparent shades and hues. This range makes them ideal for both fashion and interiors. Instruction is suitable for beginners, while experienced artists of any medium will have the opportunity to combine existing skills with a new range of expressive techniques.

Some courses require additional textbooks and/or materials. Please visit your campus bookstore in-person or online: Peterborough Bookstore or Lindsay Bookstore.
