Drumming for Wellbeing Workshop

Haliburton School of Art + Design

Enrol in Drumming for Wellbeing Workshop

Course Code: ARTS2548

Humans have drummed for millennia, and now modern studies are confirming what the ancients have known all along: drumming is powerful. In addition to its ability to engage non-verbal communication and create community, drumming can have a positive impact on health and well-being. It can strengthen and support cognitive development; ease anxiety, depression and stress; build confidence and inspire social interaction, and frankly, playing a drum is just plain fun! Learn to use the drum, as well as a variety of other hand percussion instruments, to enhance the texture of rhythmic exploration for personal expression, communication, connection, and playfulness. No prior musical experience is required. Please bring a drum (African djembe preferred). A limited number of drums are available to rent with a minimum of 10 days advanced notice.
