Learn the ancient technique of cloisonne enamelling. Discover ways to use transparent and opalescent enamel colors to create depth and luminosity on copper, fine silver, or silver metal clay surfaces. Blend colours to achieve value gradations and create matte or gloss finishes for optimal clarity of colours. Instruction will include the use of cloisonne wire and foils, sifting, washing and storing enamel, and soldering and metal fabrication as relate to enamelling. Create small jewellery pieces (to be set outside of class time) or samples, investigating the cloisonne and wet inlay techniques that interest you most. Instruction is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous experience.
