Explore the basic geological, mechanical and chemical science behind mining and the social and environmental consequences of mining jewels (for example, diamonds), rare earth (Uranium, Colton), and fossil fuels. We will learn about the chemicals and elements needed to make a range of products, from diamond rings to cellphones and discuss the legal, cultural, professional and ethical implications of mining.
