Enrol in Beading - Telling our Stories Through the Art of Indigenous Beading
Course Code: ARTS2647
Indigenous beadwork has a unique and rich history in the Great Lakes Region. During this course you will learn about the history of this art form along with the stories and traditions told from the Indigenous lens. The importance of colour, shape and design will be explored through a series of flat and raised beading projects and samples. You will create a flat beaded medallion, a raised beaded card case, and a larger project using a combination of bead embroidery styles and single or two needle beading techniques. Tubular peyote or gourd stitch will also be explored. Part of your learning experience will include how to source the best materials as it relates to different projects. This is the perfect course for anyone looking to expand their beading knowledge or for those who have an interest in Indigenous culture.
