Course Code: ARTS2643
Explore the amazing world of three-dimensional, movable paper structures - also called paper pop-ups or paper engineering - that can be used in books, cards, and free-standing paper sculptures. You will learn how to create several different projects with moving parts, platforms, parallel nesting structures, 3-D geometric forms, spirals, asymmetrical and curved structures and more. Projects may be assembled in a convenient accordion book or collected as one-off art pieces. We will discuss types of paper, materials, glues and other technical aspects of paper engineering, and explore ways to embellish work with artists materials - paint, markers, decorative papers, paper punches, etc. This course is suitable for any skill level.
