Program Highlights

Fleming College is an accredited test centre for the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). These welding courses and testing take place at the modern welding lab in the Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre of Fleming's Sutherland Campus. The Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre opened in September 2014. This $36.6 million, 87,000 square foot trades and technology skills training facility is built to LEED environmental and energy efficiency. The welding lab boasts:

• New advanced process equipment
• New air filtration system
• AODA booth - wheelchair accessible
• Robotic welding cell
• Plasma arc welder
• Submerged arc welder
• Inverter type power supply with pulsing capability for GMAW
• AC/DC square wave technology GTAW machines

Is this for you?

The CWB requires certification renewal every two years. These tests can be taken by graduates of Welding Certificate programs as well as welders who need to obtain or renew their certification.

CWB Welding Practice & Testing

CWB Practice Day

Brush up on your skills for CWB certification in the 1GF, 2GF, 3GF & 4GF positions in preparation for Fleming's CWB test date. Four CWB Practice plates will be provided for practice along with a lab technician to assist with setup and basic guidance. This practice day is not only open to current and past students, but also to those working in the industry who wish to refresh their skills in any position and prepare for re-certification and check tests. PPE Required: Long Sleeves without cuffs, Long Pants without cuffs, Steel Toed Shoes or Boots, Safety Glasses. No Hoodies or polyester clothing allowed. CWB Testing Flat (1GF) Position

This one-hour test is to certify and re-certify new and returning students in the 1GF position. All testing will be witnessed by a CWB welding inspector and will be in accordance with W47.1 and CWB welding procedures. PPE Required: Long Sleeves without cuffs, Long Pants without cuffs, Steel Toed Shoes or Boots, Safety Glasses. No Hoodies or polyester clothing allowed. CWB Testing Horizontal (2GF) Position

This one-hour test is to certify and re-certify new and returning students in the 2GFposiiton. All testing will be witnessed by a CWB welding inspector and will be in accordance with W47.1 and CWB welding procedures. PPE Required: Long Sleeves without cuffs, Long Pants without cuffs, Steel Toed Shoes or Boots, Safety Glasses. No Hoodies or polyester clothing allowed. CWB Testing-Vertical (3GF) Position

CWB Check Test

Register for this one-hour check test to keep current all position tickets valid. All testing will be witnessed by a CWB welding inspector and will be in accordance with W47.1 and CWB welding procedures. PPE Required: Long Sleeves without cuffs, Long Pants without cuffs, Steel Toed Shoes or Boots, Safety Glasses. No Hoodies or polyester clothing allowed.
