Healthcare Administration – Basic

In this self-directed course, you will learn the fundamental principles of business administration as it relates to Healthcare in Canada. Students will gain an understanding of business principles, problem-solving, planning ability, data analysis, budgeting, and quality assurance. The focus throughout the course will prepare the student to provide patient-centered services throughout the healthcare system in a variety of administration roles.


Healthcare Documentation

Course Date: Tuesday, August 2 Must be completed by August 26

Delivery: Online, asynchronous, 20-25 hours
Cost: Fully funded

This self-directed course provides foundational instruction on documentation in health care. Topics include legal and ethical requirements, electronic documentation, and avoiding common mistakes when documenting.


Introduction to Pharmacology and Medicine Administration

Course Date: Mondays and Tuesdays, Aug 8, 9, 15 and 16, 8:00 a.m. – 11:00a.m.

In this introductory course, learn the fundamentals of pharmacology, drug legislation and standards, and medication administration. Common indications and adverse effects and pharmacological classification will also be studied. Students must attend all four classes to receive a statement of completion


Palliative Care Upskilling for Health Care Workers

Course Date: Wednesdays, July 20 - August 17, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Delivery: Online, synchronous (instructor lead)
Cost: Fully funded

You will learn the skills and knowledge for providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, palliative care. Best practices related to providing patient care, nutrition, communication, and emotional support throughout the dying process will be developed to ensure your success as a caregiver in any setting. You will also be able to identify and provide culturally safe care with a trauma-informed approach to deliver excellent care for any person and their family.
