  • Backhoe and Wheel Loader Operating Techniques MECH0225

    Units/ Hours: 138

    This course of study in safe operation of backhoe and wheel loader will provide the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to perform daily circle checks, safe maneuvering practices and job site planning strategies. Field activities such as utility locating, trenching, excavating, truck loading, and stockpiling will be performed using backhoe and wheel loader. Work-site planning and layout will be applied to the various earthmoving activities.

  • Equipment Maintenance MECH0110

    Units/ Hours: 24

    This course in heavy equipment maintenance fundamentals requires the use of tools, equipment and material necessary to maintain machinery. It focuses on inspection and preventative maintenance procedures following the manufacturers' recommendations.

  • Excavator and Dozer Operating Techniques MECH0224

    Units/ Hours: 138

    This course of study in safe operation of excavator and dozer will provide the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to perform daily circle checks, safe maneuvering practices and job site planning strategies. Field activities such as trenching, excavating, truck loading, cutting, pushing, spreading, and sloping, will be performed using excavator and dozer. Work-site planning and layout will be applied to the various earthmoving activities.

  • Personal, Work-Site and Equipment Safety RECR0017

    Units/ Hours: 24

    This course of study consists of acceptable work place practices involving safety and safe operating practices of heavy equipment. Safety regulations and applicable report in procedures will be identified. Personal protection equipment, hand signals, and equipment transportation methods will be emphasized.

  • Resume Building and Career Development GNED0091

    Units/ Hours: 36

    This course provides an opportunity to design and create a resume and other job search documents that are effective in today's workplace. A portfolio of employment documents will be started. Industry and employer expectations will be researched and incorporated into career development strategies. Interview techniques to gather information and to conduct an interview process will be practised. The student will develop confidence to job search in today's marketplace.
