Students complete downtown security audit

Published

Students in the Security and Risk Management program spent the morning of Nov. 18 identifying weaknesses in safety and security at three downtown locations.

Working with the City of Peterborough, the 25 students conducted a physical security survey for the city bus terminal and parking facilities on Simcoe and King streets.

Led by Dennis Van Amerongen, parking operations coordinator for the city, the students and program coordinator Nancy Newton toured the sites, taking photos and notes, and asking several questions.

The students will be preparing a report that the city and the Peterborough Lakefield Police Service can use to improve safety and security at these sites.
