Join the growing green energy sector by taking Fleming College’s comprehensive Solar Photovoltaic Installer Certificate program at the Cobourg Campus.
Be job ready in just 15 weeks. As a Certified Photovoltaic Installer you will install, inspect and maintain photovoltaic systems that convert solar energy into electricity.
There is already a significant and growing labour shortage in this field. According to a 2009 Labour Force Survey of the Canadian Solar Industry, 41% of companies were experiencing labour shortages.
The same report predicts that by the end of 2011, more than half of all companies will be understaffed, while the industry will have grown by more than 100%.
With curriculum designed to meet the criteria for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners, the program includes courses such as Drafting Applications and AutoCAD, Electricity Basics and Safety, and Construction Job Site Safety.
While the program is hosted at the Cobourg Campus, there will be some instruction at off-site locations for hands-on training.
The full-time program runs from Oct. 17, 2011 until Feb. 2, 2012.
