New program for PSWs to bridge to nursing

Fleming College has developed two bridging opportunities for practicing Personal Support Workers (PSW) to pursue their Practical Nursing diploma.The part-time programs are planned to start in January 2009. Students who successfully complete their program will be granted direct entry into the second semester of the full-time Fleming College Practical Nursing program in January each year, starting in 2010.Graduates of the PSW Ontario College Certificate program from 2006 to present will take a bridge program consisting of two courses. For those who graduated in Ontario prior to 2006, the bridge program will consist of five or six courses. Specific exemptions or transfer credits may be granted upon proof of completion of equivalent course content.Information sessions will be held in Peterborough, Lindsay and Cobourg:• Peterborough: Tuesday, December 2 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. in room 567 at the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr. • Cobourg: Tuesday, December 9 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 316 of the Cobourg Campus, Fleming Building, 1005 Elgin St. • Lindsay: Thursday, December 11, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Room 158 of the Frost Campus, 200 Albert St. S.A questionnaire will also be available for prospective students and employers to provide input on the format of these course offerings.
