Peterborough ON – (April 16, 2014) – Fleming College is the first post-secondary institution in Canada to sign an articulation agreement in the field of policing studies with Charles Sturt University (CSU) in New South Wales, Australia.
Qualified students from Fleming’s Faculty of Justice can now fast-track through CSU’s Bachelor of Social Science (Criminal Justice), an internationally-recognized degree, with credit for prior study.
Students in the college’s Community and Justice Services; Customs Border Services; Law Clerk; Paralegal; Police Foundations; and Protection, Security and Investigation programs will be eligible to apply to CSU’s degree program.
Upon successful completion of their program, Fleming students are eligible for 96 points (equivalent to 12 eight-point courses) of credit toward CSU’s degree. Students then need to complete a further 12 eight-point courses in order to graduate from CSU. Four eight-point courses are usually completed each semester.
CSU’s Bachelor of Social Science (Criminal Justice) enhances the knowledge and professional capabilities of students interested in careers in criminal justice and social justice. The program contains academic and vocationally relevant courses that introduce and develop knowledge of the operation and administration of the criminal justice system and explores key issues of criminal and social justice.
