Lake Superior State University renews degree pathways with Fleming College

Published

(January 16, 2018) – Lake Superior State University (LSSU) and Fleming College have renewed an agreement that allows students in three Fleming programs the opportunity to obtain a criminal justice degree.

Eligible graduates of the Police Foundations, Community and Justice Services, and Protection, Security and Investigation diploma programs can complete LSSU’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice – Criminal Justice Generalist program in two additional semesters.

“We are pleased to continue to partner with Lake Superior State University on this degree pathway,” said Carol Kelsey, Dean of the School of Justice and Community Development. “Providing opportunities for our students to continue their education will expand their knowledge and skills and, ultimately, open up their career prospects.”

The initial agreement between the two institutions was signed in 2013. The renewal expands the agreement until August 2020.

The three programs are part of the School of Justice and Community Development. Students in law and justice programs at Fleming share a common first semester, which creates a solid academic foundation and allows students to acquire fundamental, transferable skills. These programs also provide students with extensive experiential learning through work placements as well as the opportunity to obtain additional certifications and specializations.

Representatives from LSSU will be at Fleming’s Sutherland Campus (main foyer) on Wednesday, January 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Fleming College’s Education Pathways Fair.
