Kawartha Cast Iron Chef and Culympics at Fleming College

Culinary competition to raise funds for student tour of EuropeParticipate in an evening of culinary excellence as five teams of local chefs and students go head-to-head in competition to prepare a five-course meal for your enjoyment.The Kawartha Cast Iron Chef and Culympics Competition Dinner will take place Wednesday, March 4 at Fulford’s Dining Room at the Sutherland Campus, 599 Brealey Dr. in Peterborough. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m. The students will be competing in several culinary arts categories including fruit and vegetable carving, fat sculpting, hot and cold appetizer, entrée and desert preparation.The event is a fundraiser for culinary students at Fleming. The students are participating in a 12-day European culinary tour visiting Italy, Germany, and Switzerland in October 2009. Proceeds from the dinner will go toward the students’ tour participation fees.Tickets are $75 per couple and are available through Fulford’s – 705-749-5530 x 1487 or email nwood@flemingc.on.caFleming’s cluster of culinary programs features extensive hands-on learning taught by renowned chefs – experts in their field. Within Fleming’s culinary programs, students get the experience of running a fully operational restaurant through Fulford’s, which offers fine dining and cuisine right at the college.     – 30 –
