Humanitarian Stephen Lewis to speak at Frost Campus

Renowned humanitarian Stephen Lewis will speak as part of a staff event at Fleming College’s Frost Campus on Wednesday, Oct. 28.The event, part of a professional development day for staff at the college, is closed to the public. Mr. Lewis will speak at 6:30 p.m. at the campus, 200 Albert St. S.Media are invited to attend. If reporters are interested in attending they are asked to RSVP to Laura Copeland at 705-749-5530 x 1370 or copeland@flemingc.on.ca. About Stephen LewisCurrently a professor in Global Health within the Faculty of Social Sciences at McMaster University, Mr. Lewis is also Chair of the Board of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which is dedicated to turning the tide of HIV/AIDS in Africa.Mr. Lewis’ work with the United Nations spanned more than 20 years and he was the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa from June 2001 to the end of 2006.From 1995 to 1999, Mr. Lewis was Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF at the organization’s global headquarters in New York City. From 1984 to 1988, he was Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations.     – 30 –
