Haliburton Campus celebrating 50 years of art and craft education

Haliburton ON – (July 27 2017) – The Haliburton School of Art + Design (HSAD) is hosting two special events this summer in celebration of Fleming College’s 50th anniversary.

The Annual Faculty Art Auction will take place at Haliburton Campus (297 College Dr.) on Thursday, Aug. 10. It will include artworks donated by HSAD faculty with proceeds funding student bursaries. This year’s event will also feature a mystery art piece auction.

The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with an opportunity to preview the art pieces and take in live entertainment that will include a fire dancer, aerial acrobatics, clowns and music. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by remarks at 6 p.m. and the live auction at 7 p.m.

At the same time, HSAD is hosting a Faculty Exhibition for the college’s 50th anniversary. The exhibition, which began July 4, will run until Aug. 19, 2017 in the Great Hall at Haliburton Campus.

The exhibition features works from renowned artists who teach at the campus, including Mary Intven Wallace, Sue Rankin, Rod Prouse, Otis Tamasauskas, Susan Watson Ellis, and Rob Stimpson.
