Frost Campus to host Ranger Workshop

Fleming College will soon be hosting some special visitors to its Frost Campus – Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Rangers.The Campus will host a Ranger Workshop on Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30. More than 50 Rangers are expected to attend.The Rangers, all high school students, will participate in team building exercises on Wednesday as well as outdoor recreation activities such as canoeing, geocaching, tree identification, insects and aquatic health and a visit to the Frost Campus Fish Hatchery.The Rangers will camp out at Frost Campus overnight Wednesday and then participate in workshops on Outdoor Safety and Survival Skills, and Drilling and Blasting on Thursday. The Rangers will also take part in campus tours that day. The MNR Ranger program, which includes both Junior and Stewardship Rangers, is intended for teens aged 17 or turning 17. Junior Rangers stay at a camp all summer. During the day they participate in work activities such as brush clearing, cleaning camp sites, and habitat rehabilitation projects. Stewardship Rangers participate in the daily work activities but live at home throughout the summer.
