Celebrating Fleming College’s 50th Convocation at Sutherland Campus

Peterborough ON – (May 31, 2017) – Fleming College will host its 50th Convocation for graduates of Sutherland Campus from June 6-8.

About 2,600 students are eligible to cross the stage to receive certificates and diplomas at this year’s Convocation. The ceremonies, which will celebrate the college’s special milestone, will take place at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre. Students are graduating from more than 60 programs across academic areas.

Here is the full schedule:

Tuesday, June 6

  • 10 a.m. – School of Trades and Technology; School of General Arts and Sciences; Haliburton School of Art + Design (Arts and Heritage programs)
  • 2 p.m. – School of Business


Wednesday, June 7

  • 10 a.m. – School of Justice and Community Development (Justice programs)
  • 2 p.m. – School of Justice and Community Development (Community Development programs)

Thursday, June 8

  • 10 a.m. – School of Health and Wellness (Massage Therapy; Paramedic; Personal Support Worker; Practical Nursing)
  • 2 p.m. – School of Health and Wellness

At the School of Business ceremony on June 6, faculty member D’Arcy McKittrick will receive the Vice-President Academic’s Contract Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. Mr. McKittrick is recognized for his work in developing and delivering Project Management courses as well as playing an integral role in designing and launching the current applied project student experience, which has become a primary point of differentiation for Fleming’s Project Management program. An active project manager himself, Mr. McKittrick brings new and highly relevant examples of real-life project management to the classroom.  He also hosts an informal ceremony for students from his program to celebrate and share their cultural heritage at the conclusion of the program.

Ontario Colleges at 50: The Start of Something Amazing
Fleming College is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017. The theme for this year-long commemoration is The Start of Something Amazing, which signifies a new beginning – after 50 years of continued success in post-secondary education, Fleming looks forward to another 50 years of innovation in the college sector. As part of this, Fleming is proud to celebrate the many accomplishments of its graduates at convocation – one of the most important events in the College year.
