Fleming College seeking more off-campus housing options for students

Published

Peterborough ON – (December 7, 2017) – With an expected increase in new students in January 2018, Fleming College’s housing department is appealing to the community in seeking more off-campus housing options for students.

In the short-term, the College is aiming to increase the number and variety of off-campus housing options that are available in Peterborough and Lindsay, particularly for international students.

The number of international students at Fleming has expanded rapidly in the last five years. With continued record enrolment this past September and an anticipated increase in students for January, the College is seeking safe, secure, reasonably priced accommodation in multi-person dwellings near the campuses, or on or near transit routes.

“Students contribute positively to our local economy and they add to our vibrant communities in Peterborough and Lindsay,” said Tracey McConnery, Manager of English Programs and International Student Services. “We welcome international and domestic students alike, and we greatly value the diversity that international students bring to our programs, campuses and communities.”

Fleming offers online resources for off-campus housing that are available for landlords as well as students including a dedicated listing service through places4students.com. This allows landlords to advertise directly and connect easily with students. Fleming also provides resources and support for current and new landlords.

“This is a great opportunity for community members that have rented to students in the past or have been thinking about renting. We encourage you to get in touch with us to learn more,” said Kelsey Doherty, Off-campus Housing Coordinator.
