Partnership expands online training opportunities and provides national accreditation for students

May 10, 2018 – Fleming College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic have entered into a new partnership to offer online programs and courses throughout Ontario.

The institutions recently signed a five-year agreement to enable shared delivery of the Parts Management Technician certificate, Warehouse Worker certificate, Leadership Skills certificate, and Blue Seal training for the trades.

“Saskatchewan Polytechnic is recognized worldwide for high quality, innovative training for industry,” says David Francis, dean of Fleming’s School of Professional and Continuing Education. “Our college is excited to be able offer new training experiences for students in high-demand professions throughout Ontario.”

Fleming College and Saskatchewan Polytechnic agree that online learning environments provide engaging and flexible learning experiences for students, allowing people to retrain while employed or considering pathways to new professions. Saskatchewan Polytechnic has been a pioneer in developing highly-interactive online learning environments where students can excel individually and as part of a learning team led by talented instructors.

“This partnership with Fleming College represents a win-win scenario,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, Saskatchewan Polytechnic president and CEO. “We are pleased to partner with Fleming College, an institution with a long history of innovation, and work in partnership with them to expand the reach of our programming.”

This partnership opens doors to nationally accredited training for students, providing content and learning design of the highest quality while providing the option of labour mobility for completers. This kind of learning opportunity also sets students up to be lifelong learners since many of these skills are applicable in every-day life.

Located in the heart of Central Ontario, Fleming College has campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg, and Haliburton. Named for famous Canadian inventor and engineer Sir Sandford Fleming, the college features more than 100 full-time programs in Arts and Heritage, Business, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, General Arts and Sciences, Health and Wellness, Justice and Community Development, Skilled Trades and Technology, and Continuing Education.
