As students head back to class, Fleming College will see a 12 per cent jump in first year enrolment – projected to be one of the highest increases in all of Ontario’s 24 colleges.More than 2,850 students are expected to start first-semester classes at all campuses this week, the highest number in Fleming’s 40-year history. Areas that saw the greatest increases included the School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences and the School of Continuing Education and Skilled Trades. Fleming College led the provincial college system in student confirmations at 10 per cent above the system average. While registrations at Fleming have increased by 12 per cent, system-wide numbers will not be confirmed for a few weeks yet.Fleming continues to draw a broad cross-section of students – both secondary students and mature students – from across Ontario. The number of students attending Fleming from the Greater Toronto Area has also increased.“Students have many good choices for their education. We are glad to see that increasingly they are choosing Fleming – for our many programs and the student experience that our faculty and staff provide,” said Dr. Tony Tilly, President of Fleming College.Fleming emphasizes student learning first and has a reputation for excellent faculty-student interaction.
