Cobourg Campus offers workshop on baking artisan bread

Revive the art of artisan baking and never go back to ordinary breads again through a new one-day workshop, Baking Organic Artisan Bread, offered by Fleming College’s Cobourg campus.Join instructor Doug Lawrence, co-owner of MillStone Bread in Cobourg, and make artisan bread from whole grains, organic ingredients and time-honoured methods.Mr. Lawrence is a member of the American Bread Bakers Guild and has studied under Jeff Hamelman of King Arthur Flour in Vermont, USA. He has also built wood-fired bake ovens in British Columbia and New Mexico. In 1992 he and his wife Jill moved to Northumberland County and decided to build their own oven in Cobourg at MillStone Bread.The workshop takes place on Monday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. MillStone Bread will host the course at its location at 53 Albert St. in Cobourg. The cost is $150.
