Fleming College

The Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT) at Fleming College will expand its research in India through a newly signed collaborative agreement with ReserWater Innovation Foundation (RWIF), India’s first water innovation platform.

RWIF, a non-profit organization created by ETI Dynamics and Vittal Innovation City, aims to bring about significant change in the water sector in India and globally by serving as a multi-location, multi-disciplinary water innovation cluster. It is committed to making significant environmental and socio-economic impacts.

Dr. Brent Wootton, CAWT’s Director and Senior Scientist, was in New Delhi on April 11, 2013 to sign the agreement on behalf of the Canada-India Water Training Consortium.

The Canada-India Water Training Consortium is led by Wootton and the CAWT and includes the Ontario Clean Water Agency, Northern College, Confederation College and Centennial College. The consortium is part of a broader collaborative effort that includes Canadian Technology and Business Facilitators Inc. (CTBF).

RWIF will feature five major centres of excellence with a pan-Indian and global reach:

• Research and Innovation
• Water Resource Mapping and Management
• Socio-economic
• Industry Solutions
• Big Impacts Centre – will focus on major initiatives such as cleaning up the Ganges River 

RWIF has signed additional collaborative agreements with Southern Ontario Water Consortium, European Business and Technology Centre, and Friends of Vrindavan.

The Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment (CAWT) specializes in applied research on alternative, innovative and emerging water and wastewater technologies. The facility, located at Fleming College’s Frost Campus in Lindsay, Ontario, is currently collaborating with more than 50 Canadian companies, 14 universities and numerous government departments on research and development, commercialization, demonstration, and technology verification projects.
