Rick Whitteker

Rick Whitteker brings to his position as coordinator, faculty and technician in the Outdoor Adventure Skills program a wide variety of outdoor teaching and facilitation work. He has worked several seasons as a director of a canoe outfitter, wilderness and naturalist guide in Ontario and Costa Rica, and as an environmental educator at a variety of outdoor centres in Ontario, Australia and Indonesia. Rick is well grounded in adventure education and nature tourism having worked with Outward Bound Wilderness School and Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve including duties as editor of Wolves, an annual publication of the Wolf Centre. Rick has worked as a volunteer hike leader for Hike Haliburton Festival, steering committee chairperson for the Haliburton- Muskoka Children's Water Festival and as a Nordic ski instructor in the Jackrabbit program. Presently, Rick has a current Wilderness First Responder, ORCKA Basic and Canoe Tripping Instructor and Hike Ontario Certified Hike Leader instructor.
