Michele Karch Ackerman, a graduate of OCAD, has taught at various institutions including the Royal Ontario Museum, Inner City Angels, Loyalist College and Trent University, where her teaching is widely recognized for its innovative and motivational style. She is a nationally known contemporary artist recognized for her provocative and touching installations. With influences drawn from history, literature and experience, her works have inspired viewers with their challenging subject matter and aesthetics. Her newest exhibition Foundling is on a five-gallery Ontario tour including such galleries as the Canadian Clay and Glass Museum, Grimsby Public Arts Gallery and the Art Gallery of Peterborough among others. In 2012, the Tom Thomson Memorial Gallery will feature a Retrospective of Michele's work entitled The Domestic Arts of Love in conjunction with their 50th anniversary.
