Technical Calculus 1

Course Code: MATH132

Study differentiation of algebraic, transcendental and implicit functions, indefinite and definite integrals, as well as various methods of integration, numerical integration included. Applications of derivatives include: tangents and normals, motion, related rates, curve sketching, linear approximation, estimating errors in measurements, applied maximum and minimum problems from areas of geometry, mechanics and electricity. Applications of integrals include: motion, areas, volumes, average and rms values, center of mass, moments of inertia and electric circuits. Pre-requisite: prior learning in basic algebra, linear, quadratic and higher degree equations, systems of equations, exponents, radicals and complex numbers, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, vectors and oblique triangles and plane analytic geometry.
