Security Guard Training (online)
Course Number: LAWS 232

Upon the completion of this course, the student will understand how to communicate with a diverse population, provide customer service, conduct effective patrols, perform access control and manage the movement of people and vehicles. Appropriate security response in emergencies such as fire, bomb (explosive devices), medical and weapon incidents will be provided. The student will understand how to collect or protect evidence (as appropriate) and present their findings in judicial or quasi judicial settings. The student will also learn how to interpret and apply relevant Municipal, Provincial and Federal legislation. In addition, the student will gain an understanding of use of force theory and authorities to arrest when appropriate. They will be able to take appropriate notes and write a thorough report based upon their actions in any of the topics covered.
