This course will investigate the process of making dinnerware, from design concept to completion. The challenge of working on a commissioned basis to fulfill client expectations will also be addressed. Harmonizing design elements and function as well as colour, decoration, texture and durability will be explored. The emphasis will be on process and acquiring new skills, especially as they relate to the making of bowls and plates. Glazing the ware will not be a priority. Visual presentations of dinnerware development and creative process will be referenced. Additional clay will be available for purchase from school at a cost of $20 per bag, which includes glazing and firing.
