Course Number: ARTS1745

A handcrafted paddle is a work of art. Discover age-old techniques as you choose and create two canoe paddles, West Greenland style Inuit kayak paddles, contemporary bent shaft kayak paddles, or any combination of the three types. Your paddles will be unique and personal as you will choose your paddle style and length. From laying out the centre lines, to planning and carving the blades, grips and shafts, through to final sanding and finishing, you will create paddles that precisely suit your needs and paddling style. In order to prepare the blanks you will be required to select the style and size of your paddle blanks by June 15, 2012. A third paddle blank can be ordered for those participants who wish to continue with their newly learned paddle making expertise.
Registrations may still be received after June 15 if there is space in the course and time to create the blanks. Please contact the school to inquire if this is the case.
