This course is designed to assist students in understanding the theory and practice of industrial relations in Canada. Students examine the environmental influences that affect union-management relations, appreciate the complex combination of power, reason, communications, politics, and attitudes that pervade industrial relations processes, and explore bargaining issues and their economic implications. This course also explores essential elements of the collective bargaining process, strategies at the bargaining table, and administration of the collective agreement, grievances and arbitration. A background in Human Resources Management is recommended. Equivalent to Fleming MGMT010 (G. Sutherland 01/09/2010)
